Wild West Coast Birding Safari



The West Coast Birding Safari centres around Elands Bay which is at the mouth of the Olifants River. The river just before it enters the sea is more like a lagoon and is the home of large amounts of both sea birds and endemic wetland birds.

 

 

 

 

 

Day 1 Cape Town to Elands Bay

We will collect you from your guest lodge and head north on the N1 before branching onto the R27. Our first stop will be Intaka Island, a dedicated  bird sanctuary in the city. From here we will drive onto the West Coast National Park where we will stop at their three hides before having lunch. After lunch we will head north again to the sleepy town of Elands Bay.

Day 2 Elands Bay and Surrounds

This morning we will be up early to explore the Verloerenvlei river estuary and the myriad of birds that make it their home. There are plenty waders and sea birds to be seen here. We will also take a drive up the gravel road to Lamberts Bay. Tonight we will have a traditional South African braai.

Day 3 Elands Bay - Cape Town

After a leisurely breakfast we will head south again making stops at Rocherpan and Rietvlei but not hesitating to break our journey if we come across anything special. You will be delivered to your lodge late afternoon in time for dinner.
